Dabrowski's

Dabrowski's

Mixed media sculpture    Dimensions:  22"x19"x11"   Year2015

A propensity for assembling things and I found shattered pieces of windshield of a car on my way to college and that formed the core for Dabrowski’s – a work through which I wanted to address my existential crisis at the time.

Struggling in my young adolescent years, an article titled: Dabrowski’s Theory and Existential Depression in Gifted Children and Adults authored by Dr. J. Webb, found and rescued me in almost a literal sense.

Kazimierz Dabrowski, a Polish psychiatrist and psychologist, worked and wrote prolifically about his ideas on existential depression.

Developed entirely upon Dabrowski’s theory, this work could be read as empathizing with the shattered glass that will never positively reintegrate. This is my first work in the capacity of a sculpture student.
